My priliminary task

This is my priliminary task.
I have done it at school in my media studies lesson.
We had to do a small video of a conversation, that should help us to work out our camera and cutting skills. I did this video with 3 classmates and we tried to use lots of different shots. This short film is about me on the way to a doctor  because I am thinking my finger is broken. I open the door (close up on the hand). Than the conversation starts (Medium close up). After we recorded our footage we edited our footage together with Corel Video Studio Pro X3. Whith this task i improved my skills with the program. Also I learned more about the different shots we used in our short film and also what effect they bring.

Synopsis of Film

This is our first idea about our video:
We have done some brainstorming to the genre crime and gangster.
We write down our ideas to have our basics our film will based on.
This helped us to get our process started.
Storyboard
This is the storyboard that we have done before to start with editing .I drew this storybord to have first ideas what shots we will use in our short film .Also we thought about noises ans background music. It helped us much when we begin with our filming. Because we done the storyboard quite early we changed some scenes and take some away but the plot is still the same.

    Blue : Cooker
    Red : Dealer
        Brown : Describtion
        Green : 3rd Person
 Black : Noise

Target Audience

The main target audience for my film will be :
Gender:
 Male and Teenager
Age:
Over 15 to under 60

 Male :
The audience will probably be male because my genre is  crime and gangster. Even female could like it but in general it is more fitting to males. Reasons for this are for example the movie is about drug deals, violence will play a mayor roll and we did our recording mainly at dirty places.

    Teenager :
Teenagers are my second audience mainly because the film will be about teenagers. Also because i can identify myself with my age group. I know that much teenager are inter rested in films about drugs violence and the dirty sides of our society because this genre of film is full of action.

Over 15 :
I have chosen the gender over 15 because in the genre of a crime and gangster film are rude dialogues
a normality. There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, ‘fuck’). The strongest terms (for example, ‘cunt’) may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable.Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. Also it is typical in crime that drugs are a mayor roll. Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances and ex specially this is not suitable for Young people.

 Under 60 :
I choose to gender under 60 for my film because people in this age can not identify really with the actors .
When they were in the age of our acters they probably had better things to do than buying drugs. The drug movement changed in the last years. Now these days people who take drugs are young. People who are 60 might know the drugs and there effects but don't know the reasons why teenageres take them.

Textual Analysis of Film Openings

                               Genre:
                        Drug-Comedy/Dramatic-Comedy

Sound:
A female singer, electronic guitar (rock-music), sounds of bad, the voice of the commentator. The mess of sounds and noises let you understand better in what kind of state the two persons are in.

Camera shots:
In the opening two minutes you can see a black and white shots of a demonstration.
The second shot is a black background with white letters on it: “He who makes a beast of himself gets a rid of the pain of being man.”
The third shot is on the motorway in the desert.
The two main characters are driving in a red Cabriolet at high speed over the motorway.
The driver wears a white head and a yellow shirt with brown flowers on it (Johnny Depp).
He have a cigarette in his mouth. You can see that he has taken drugs because he waves with a fly swat around his head to keep the bats (which you can not see) away from him. Next to him is the second main character which looks like he is sleeping (Dott Gonzo).
He wears his shirt open, so that you can see his fat belly. He has a beer in his right hand and makes strange noises. After a amall meaningless conversation they decide to stop and change the driver. Johnny Depp is walking away from the car scared of the bats. He is walking to the back seat of the car. He opens a case which is full of illegal drugs and begins to create a quick list in his head. He takes something out of the case and goes back to the passenger seat. They continue on there way at full speed.

Characters:
The driver who has taken some drugs (Johnny Depp), the guy sitting next to him on the passenger seat who looks like he would sleeping.

Plot :
The two main characters that are driving through the desert have  taken drugs.
Extreme Close Up
Medium Close Up
Long shot

What I have learnt:

In this task I have learnt much about the different types of camera shots like :
- Big close-up
- Close up
- Medium Close-up
- Mid shot
- Medium Long Shot
- Long Shot
- Two shot
- Over the shoulder
- High Angle shot
- Low angle shot

These are all the different shot that I can analyse in a film.
Doing this task I found some differents shots like:
Low angle shot , long shot, close up..ecc

During the two first minutes i analysed also the music, the characters and the location.
Looking the opening i can understand the genre of the film.
